Three for Me

NC General Statute for Parent Involvement Leave
Need help getting to school to satisfy your “Three for Me” commitment?

Talk to your employer about NC Statute 95-28.3.

The General Assembly believes that parent involvement is an essential component of school success and positive student outcomes. Therefore, employers shall grant four hours per year leave to any employee who is a parent or guardian of a school-aged child so that the employee may attend or otherwise be involved at that child's school. However, any leave under this section is subject to the following conditions:

(1) The leave shall be at a mutually agreed upon time between the employer and the employee.
(2) The employer may require an employee to provide the employer with a written request for the leave at least 48 hours before the time desired for the leave.
(3) The employer may require that the employee furnish written verification from the child's school that the employee attended or was otherwise involved at that school during the time of the leave. Employers cannot discharge, demote, or otherwise take an adverse employment action against an employee who requests or takes leave under this section. An employer is not required to pay an employee for leave taken under this section.

Harris Teeter - TIE Program

Target RedCard

If you have a Target RedCard, Please align your card with Sunset Park Elementary School for our school to receive monetary donations from Target. Participation in SchoolStore.com is requested. Students received an information flyer with details for registering. The bottom half of the flyer needs to be returned to school by Friday October 9th for the student to be entered into the drawing for Joe Robot.

October Box Tops Contest

This month is our first contest for collecting Box Tops. Collections will go from October 1st until October 31st. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place students. Remember to check expiration dates on Box Tops to be submitted.

Skooter's Skate Night

Our very first Skooter's Skate night for the 2009-2010 school year is tonight October 1st from 6pm to 8pm. $2 admission. Skooter's will donate paid admissions to our PTA fund. Please show your support by coming to skate.
